Ann was born in Tipperary Ireland. Ann’s parents were John Dwire and Annie Butler.
Daniel O’Connor and Ann Dwire were married in Kilmore, Victoria, Australia on October 15, 1850. Ann is 22 years old (Australia, Marriage Index, 1788-1950).
In 1850 a son – Charles is born followed by another son, Daniel in 1851 both registered in Kilmore, Victoria. In 1853 a daughter – Annie – is born registered in Sale, Gipps Land, Victoria.
The next record we have is of a Mr and Mrs Dan O’Connor along with 3 children arriving in the Port of Auckland on February 6 on the vessel Ocean from Melbourne – refer Daily Southern Cross – Volume XII, Issue 795 9 Feb 1855 page 2 – Ann is approximately 27 years old with three children.

Daniel and Ann go on to have a total of 8 children – 5 sons and 3 daughters, 5 of whom were born in New Zealand.

We have a record of Daniel operating a ferry service from Shoal Bay (modern day Devonport) in 1861.
Daniel O’Connor dies before his wife in 1876, aged 67.
We have a copy of Ann Dwire’s death certificate – she died 10 June 1912 aged 84 at Wellington Street, Auckland.

Ann O’Connor was buried 12 June 1912 at Waikumete Cemetery (Check Roman Catholic section) – it states she was born in Tipperary, Ireland. She had been in New Zealand about 55 years (this ties in closely with the above arrival date). Her children’s ages at the time are – 60m, 59m, 57 (Annie), 50f, 47m, 46m, 45f, and 40m.

John Henry Gunn was the son of Robert Alexander Gunn and Mary ………….
John Henry Gunn had a brother – Robert Alexander Gunn (Brother to John Henry Gunn) 1840 – 1908
Robert Alexander Gunn was killed in his mine at Tokatea (near Coromandel) on the morning of 12 June 1908 when his charge of dynamite either exploded when he was tamping or the charge missed fire and on-going to see the cause the charge went off. He was 68 years old and had lived in Coromandel for about 50 years.
Check I think he is buried at Waikumete Cemetery in family plot with his brother John Henry
